The Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS), located on the York River in Gloucester Point, Virginia, seeks applicants for the position of Client Support Analyst to facilitate the missions of VIMS (education, research, and advisory services) and to enhance the productivity of the VIMS community (faculty, staff, and students) through information technology. The successful candidate will utilize technical knowledge in providing the most efficient and effective support to VIMS clients that will enable the VIMS community to perform the missions of VIMS (education, research, and advisory services). Minimum Qualifications

Must possess a high level of competency in utilizing expert troubleshooting techniques to diagnose and repair software, hardware, network, and desktop operating system issues. Evaluate client requirements and recommend effective technological solutions in cooperation with the overall network strategy. Possess working knowledge and/or applied skills and abilities in common software application packages, equipment platforms, telecommunications equipment, network data communication, operating systems and hardware. Must be proficient in working knowledge, skills and abilities to support various operating systems, primarily Windows 7. Must exhibit a positive customer service attitude and have excellent interpersonal communications skills. A degree or formal education in Information Technology or equivalent work experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to design, install and maintain voice and data networks consisting of copper, twisted pair, and fiber optic cables; including associated network and telecommunication components. Mac OSX is desirable.
