The Clinic Charge Nurse is a registered nurse who is responsible for daily operations in a designated clinical service area or areas, in addition to providing direct nursing care to patients when needed. This person is responsible for ensuring that patient care on his or her unit is provided in accordance with the Ambulatory Division’s policies and procedures. In particular, the clinic charge nurse is accountable for clinical staff scheduling, orientation and competency; documentation; monitoring and facilitating daily patient flow; ensuring unit adherence to JCAHO and other regulatory requirements; ensuring compliance with quality management, performance improvement, and risk management initiatives; and fostering a clinical environment on the unit that maximizes “Service First” and patient satisfaction.
- Education: Associates/Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
- Experience: Minimum of three years in a hospital or ambulatory care setting; previous charge or supervisory experience preferred; ambulatory Nursing.
- Licensure: Valid RN license in the State of Michigan.
- Skills and Abilities: BCLS; computer skills desirable.
