High School, completion of Medical Secretary program preferred. Minimum of 1-year experience in a medical office setting preferred. Intermediate language, basic math, intermediate reasoning ability. Ability to convey positive image and build positive relationships with others. Ability to communicate professionally and tactfully with staff, patients, and the public. Ability to articulate clinic policies and regulations. Ability to work with diverse groups of people. Ability to multi-task. Physical demands of the job are very heavy with infrequent lifting, pushing and pulling over 100 lbs.; frequent sitting, pinching, hand/wrist repetitions, fine motor skills and both handedness; moderate deviation of the wrist; requires 20/20 near vision, color discrimination and accurate depth perception.

Ensures office is open and ready to conduct daily operations. Assists with patient flow by greeting and directing patients and visitors. Receives and answers incoming calls. Verifies patient and financial information with established patient and/or patient’s representative. Interviews new patient and/or representative and enters information in the computer system. Responsible for the collection of co pays, balance dues and disability/insurance forms completion. Conducts charge posting and related activities. Schedules appointments in computer. Conducts “SHREG” function in hospital computer system. Responsible for opening and distributing inter/intra-hospital/clinic mail. Takes care of EAP patients and does authorizations for all Mental Health visits. Adheres to all safety, infection control and employee health policies and procedures.
