Position Summary

The mission of a Clinical Director, Health Management Services is to be accountable to employers, employees, family members, Precept coworkers and health plan or vendor service partners to improve health, control claims costs, support employee engagement, and improve productivity through the application of health plan Clinical Population Health Management.

Essential Functions *
  • Consult with assigned clients and prospects on care management and health promotion initiatives, products and services, resulting in successful client satisfaction and retention *
  • Apply knowledge, experience, and insight in development, implementation, and management of health and productivity strategic plans for clients *
  • Provide robust clinical and financial analytics for purposes of understanding health care cost drivers and refining mitigation plan *
  • Regularly meet with or otherwise deliver plan performance reporting *
  • Develop and maintain effective business relationships with client decision makers, vendor business partners and internal Precept service partners in order to meet or exceed retention targets *
  • Provide oversight of care management (medical management, disease management, health promotion and wellness) vendor integration, implementation, and service delivery *
  • Coordinate Health Management Services' activities with other Precept services *
  • Provide subject matter expert information on HMS program design, strategy, and implementation as part of new client implementation and ongoing management *
  • Understand issues relevant to assigned clients, industry, broad organization, and functional areas *
  • Maintain up to date clinical and business knowledge *
  • Function as a preceptor for new Clinical Director hires

Skills *
  • Strong ability to present and analyze data with the ability to secure cooperation between cross-functional teams and a wide array of personalities and work styles *
  • Demonstrated ability to develop effective presentations, negotiate services and contracts, and write and present proposals *
  • Must be able to secure the trust and confidence of clients, provide meaningful analysis and recommendations, and deliver program results *
  • Must be able to work within client relationships that extend to Precept's service, technology, benefits administration, call center and retirement activities *
  • Must be able to enlist the support of other Precept staff to deliver results *
  • Must be able to support sales to new clients and service expansion to existing clients

Experience and Education *
  • Requires a Bachelors degree in Nursing with active RN licensure. Advanced education in nursing or other health related discipline desired *
  • California insurance license desired but may be obtained within three (3) months of hire *
  • Minimum eight (8) years experience in health care, health insurance, benefits administration and/or health promotion industries with demonstrated experience in care management, employee benefits, medical insurance and health plans *
  • Clinical Account Management experience strongly desired

Physical and Mental Demands *
  • Requires mobility and physical activity: Having an adequate range of body motion and mobility to work in an office environment including standing and walking, sitting for extended periods of time, bending, twisting, reaching, balancing, occasional lifting and carrying of up to 30 pounds. *
  • Use of computer and telephone systems is required which includes coordination of eye and hand, and fine manipulation by the hands (typing, writing, and working with files) *
  • Requires talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken work. Talking is required to impart oral information to employees, clients, and the public, and in those activities in which the employee is required to convey detailed or important spoken instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly *
  • Requires hearing: Hearing is required to receive and communicate detailed information through oral communication *
  • Requires seeing: Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and at a distance. This factor is required to complete paperwork for many of the employee's essential job functions *
  • Requires the ability to collect and analyze complex numerical and written data and verbal information to reach logical conclusions *
  • Requires the ability to work and cooperate with clients, co-workers, managers, the public and employees at all levels in order to exchange ideas, information, instructions and opinions
