This position is responsible for oversight and instruction of the clinical education offerings provided by SMH. The incumbent will also oversee clinical affiliations with educational institutions using SMH for clinical rotations. Major Duties: Meets organizational expectations as defined by the Employee Standards of Performance, hospital and department policies and procedures, and the hospital’s strategic goals. Verbalizes a clear understanding of continuous quality improvement and customer satisfaction measures and actively participates in improvement initiatives. Collaborates with hospital managers and staff to assess the learning needs and competency gaps. Develops implements and evaluates educational plans/programs. Facilitates a variety of learning experiences using a range of instructional methods. Demonstrates strong knowledge of healthcare standards and regulations in order to meet related training needs. Participates in the organization's compliance with mandatory training requirements. Utilizes methods, measurements and tools to evaluate achievement of learning goals. Serves as a consultant for staff in areas of program development, clinical practice and professional development. Participates in the coordination and continuity of orientation programs. Serves as an active member of committees focused on such areas as safety, infection control and staff competency. Demonstrates strong knowledge of standards and regulations related to staff development and patient education. Researches and recommends the purchase of educational materials and equipment. Coordinates and/or collaborates with external learning institutions as they utilize the hospital as a clinical teaching site. Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth operation of the organization. Education/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Preferred: Masters of Science in Nursing. 5 year’s experience in a critical care setting. Three year’s experience teaching in an adult education environment. Required: Bachelors of Science in Nursing or related field. Demonstrated competency in education principles. High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Presentation and public speaking skills. Ability to solve problems creatively and to efficiently use resources. Knowledge of performance improvement methods. Skill in facilitating teams and in working with staff at all levels of the organization. Demonstrated leadership and mentoring ability. Demonstrated aptitude for coaching and consulting. Demonstrated organization, communication, time management and problem solving skills. Ability to prioritize competing priorities with an eye towards system wide needs. Knowledge of various education options to recommend the best solution to gain performance outcomes. Three year’s experience in a critical care setting. 1 year experience teaching in an adult education environment. Active Louisiana RN license.
