Requirements:
Associate Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science(or equivalent) with ASCP certification preferred.
A High School Graduate with at least 3 years of applicable Clinical Laboratory Processing experience preferred.

Knowledge of Sendout processing and outreach program a plus.

A positive attitude and excellent work ethics are required.
Must have an outstanding customer service record with internal (including the peers) and external customers.
Must have the ability to follow written procedures for laboratory techniques, safety practices, record keeping and handling confidential patient information.

Must have excellent phone etiquette, customer service skills, organizational skills, ability to work with computer systems and the ability to handle multiple tasks.

Must have an understanding and use of scientific and technical language and symbols.

Mandatory Requirements:
All CHOP employees who work in a patient building or who provide patient care are required to receive an annual influenza vaccine unless they are granted a medical or religious exemption.

Job Description:
Review specimen requirements and processing procedures for every section within the department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
Follow appropriate processing, storage and delivery procedures for each department section.
This includes the use of pneumatic tube system. Review that all specimens are properly labeled and all orders are current. Making inquiries if need to ensure that all testing is completed in timely manner.
Must verify that the correct sample is sent for the testing that is requested.
Following up with the appropriate clinician when needed. Will also include making inquiries to the other laboratory sections.
Enters information in the LIS following the established procedures. Register the specimens in LIS that arrive from outside clients.
Delivers the specimens to the specific benches where testing is performed.
Provide an outstanding customer service.
