The professional nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive care in an ambulatory setting for patients in the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic. Responsibilities include assessment of physical and psychosocial needs, patient education and the administration of chemotherapy, immunotherapy and blood products, along with other infusion therapies. The nurse evaluates the patient's response to interventions and implements appropriate changes and also assists in symptom management, coordination of internal and external resources, triaging unexpected patient visits, and facilitating communication between all members of the healthcare team. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. B.S.N. preferred.
Current DC licensure as a Registered Nurse.
APON Oncology certification preferred.
Chemotherapy certification required within 3 months of hire.
Minimum of five years experience in Pediatric care, Pediatric Oncology background a plus.
Ambulatory care experience preferred.
