The Research Facilitation Department, Naval Center for Combat and Operational Stress Control (NCCOSC), is located on the campus of the Naval Medical Center San Diego, and supports a broad spectrum of studies with involvement ranging from study design, obtaining appropriate Internal Review Board (IRB) approvals, subject recruitment and enrollment, data collection, data management and analysis and dissemination of results. The department ensures that relevant research questions are posed, that existing data is captured, that screening techniques are validated, that military psychological health delivery is informed by science and evidence-based practice is advanced. The department provides research staff to assist in accomplishing the essential and time consuming tasks of clinical research such as clarifying ideas into achievable projects, conducting literature reviews, assistance in writing grant proposals with the primary purpose of purchasing equipment (computer, scanner) necessary to conduct certain studies, preparation and submission of institutional review board documents, developing forms and surveys, aiding in data collection, creating databases, data entry, obtaining data from other available databases, analyzing statistical data, professional presentations of results and editorial help in writing reports and papers and assistance in submitting papers for publication.

Required Skills

Grant and Research proposal writing

IRB submission experience

Protocol development

Knowledge of psychological health assessment, and creation of forms and questionnaires

Database creation

Data entry, management, analysis and interpretation

Presentation development and delivery

Manuscript and report delivery


MS/MA in a bio-medical, behavioral, or mental health field or a public health field or at least enrolled in a Masters program with 18 credits completed and at least 3 years of related experience as a clinical researcher.

Candidate should possess knowledge and insight into legal and regulatory matters concerning clinical research.

Candidate would have experience in obtaining and maintaining Institutional Review Board approval, recruitment, data collection, including clinical interviewing and data (CRF) management.

Publication/presentation experience-Military experience and work in the military psychological health care field.
