    SUMMARY

    The Clinical Research Nurse is responsible for collecting, analyzing and reporting clinical data elements on eligible cases as required for participation in the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan-funded Quality Collaboratives. (e.g. Orthopedic, Medical and/or Surgical). This role will be required to independently manage the case load and report data to BCBSM according to established standards and deadlines and will actively engage as a project lead in collaborative activities and identify opportunities to improve the quality of care by working with physicians, nurses, other clinicians, and administrators to develop strategies to improve performance.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan; Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred as well as 5 years clinical nursing experience; familiar with data abstraction from medical records, analyzing and interpreting process, clinical outcomes and costs of care. Recent experience with clinical chart review and abstraction is preferred. Experience using Cerner EMR preferred. Qualified candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as working knowledge of computer software (Microsoft Word and Excel) and web-based applications.
