Parsons Child and Family Center and Albany City School District are partners in the School Support Project, an initiative of the New York State Office of Mental Health. This program is designed to provide services to middle school-aged children who have emotional or behavioral needs. Services are also designed to provide support to the families of these children. Services are intended to help children function in their classrooms and succeed in school.
Clinicians provide individual, family and group counseling to students. The primary location for this postion is the A-PLUS Clinic at Hackett Middle School on Delaware Ave in Albany, NY.

This position works 12 months per year, Monday - Friday 8am - 3:30pm.
This position will start out as temporary, but will likely be extended to regular status.
Provide clinical services to identified youth and their families as assigned, using appropriate and effective treatment modalities.
Provide group therapy to youth as needed and as indicated on treatment plans.
Provide 1:1 interaction or observations in the classroom as indicated.
Provide case management services as needed.
Provide expertise to all faculty in behavior management, including assessment and planning of behavior management strategies as well as consultation and training regarding certain types of childhood mental health disorders and emotional/behavioral issues.
Collaborate with and coordinate services with ACSD staff and other service providers.
Access supports in the school or in the community as indicated, in cooperation with Parent Partner.
Participate in the development of a process to obtain regular feedback from family members relative to their service needs and those of their children.
Collaborate with Parent Partner to ensure support and educational programs to family members are developed and available.
Provide expertise to parents/caregivers in behavior management, including assessment and planning behavior management strategies as well as consultation and training regarding certain types childhood behavioral issues and intervention strategies.
In collaboration with faculty and families, develop/write behavior plans and assist in classroom implementation as indicated.
Collaborate with the A-Plus staff and ACSD School Principal, social worker, and other school personnel. Follow ACSD policies and procedures regarding actions in the school (such as wearing school ID at all times.)
Masters degree in Social Work
LMSW NYS Certification required, 2+ years post LMSW preferred
Experience, training, or education commensurate with working with youth with serious and persistent emotional disturbance; direct practice experience with youth in a school setting preferred.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of service recipients and professionals.
Capacity to engage potential service recipients non-judgmentally irrespective of circumstances.
Strong working knowledge of the community and knowledge of community services.
Knowledge of accepted child-rearing skills, and belief in non-violent management of behavior.
Access to a vehicle and a valid, clean NYS driver's license.
Flexibility with work hours.
The scope of practice, supervision and setting of this position qualifies as experience towards an LCSW in New York State.
