The Closing Manager is responsible and accountable for all aspects of residential mortgage loan closings with a special attention paid to loan quality and timing. You will be required to ensure your team executes against specific policies and procedures focused on all aspects of the loan closing process which includes preparing and sending out closing documents, communicating with internal and external business partners, confirming loan closings and requesting disbursements. You will lead a team of approximately 12 Closers.

As the Closing Manager you will be tasked with leading the development and growth of your Closers; including the hiring of employees and development of all upfront processes and procedures required to successfully close residential mortgage loans that are saleable to the GSEs.

Drive Loan Quality
  • Manage all aspects of the loan closing process
    • Accurately input data into system and other applications as needed
    • Ensure every closing package is complete and all information is correct
    • Partner with Sales Leadership to understand and drive business strategy focused on quality
    • Partner with UW and Processing to ensure best in class customer service levels and cycle times
    • Responsible and accountable for compliance across all aspects of loan closing
    • Meet or exceed team productivity goals
    • Meet or exceed team quality goals
    • Manage all aspects of your team’s operational metrics (docs drawn, packages sent, loans closed etc.)
    • Manage and perform multiple tasks accurately in a fast-paced and challenging environment
    • Obtain property tax information and verify accuracy with title company, and/or tax collector
    • Calculate tax escrows and ensure ample amounts are collected for next due date
    • Review hazard insurance and premiums and ensure sufficient insurance is in place at closing
    • Inform internal and external parties of loan’s status as required

Required Skills
  • Minimum of five years of management experience in mortgage closing/lending/originations is required
  • Experience building strong relationships with internal business partners to achieve success
  • Working knowledge of the originations business including HARP, FHA, VA (IRRRL) and traditional conforming products
  • Knowledge of underwriting standards (GSEs) and loan fulfillment processes
  • Proven track record of successfully managing 10 or more team members
  • Ability to successfully recruit, interview, hire, develop and retain team members
  • Proven ability to lead, model, coach, and mentor team members
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong technology skills required (LOS, PC, Web-portal tools)
Required Experience
  • College degree in Business Management or related field preferred
  • Experience in the residential mortgage closing, sales or processing space
