The Coding Specialist reviews the contents of the medical record to identify and assign the appropriate diagnoses and procedures to be coded according to the ICD-9-CM and CPT4 coding classification systems.
Each medical record will be reviewed for additional diagnoses and procedures such as complications and/or comorbid conditions that would impact the assignment of a (DRG) Diagnostic Related Group or an (APC) Ambulatory Payment Classification.
