This position is responsible for ensuring appropriate levels of service
are being billed according to documentation and 1995 billing guidelines,
insurance credentialing and provider/staff education in relation to
billing guidelines. Maintain routine chart audits for providers. Reports
directly to the Medical Auditor Specialist for PCRMC Medical Group.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum Work Experience:
Minimum 1 year medical coding experience or appropriate schooling is
preferred. Medical Coding Certification thru AAPC or AHIMA preferred.
Certifications / Licenses:
Certification or registration as a medical coder to be obtained within the
first 12 months of employment.Coding certification upon hire highly preferred.
Current driver’s license and declaration of automobile liability insurance.

*Ability to discuss, inform and educate providers and staff regarding
medical coding regulations and opportunities.
*Answers telephone in a kind and professional manner.
*Communicates effectively with all customers/public to satisfactorily meet
*Demonstrates knowledge of Medicaid and private insurance billing and
coverage guidelines and regulations.
*Excellent organizational and communication skills are required.
*Extensive knowledge of ICD-9, CPT and HCPCS codes.
*Identifies and responds to customer needs and requests.
*Maintains compliance with all billing rules and regulations.
*Notifies supervisor of any compliance or billing discrepancies.
*Proficient in use of computer applications is required.
Mental / Physical Requirement

to receive and express detailed information through oral communications,
visual acuity, and the ability to read and understand written directions.
Excellent computer skills. Minimum typing skills of 60 wpm. Knowledge of
medical terminology preferred. Knowledge of staffing/scheduling preferred.
Occasionally lifts and transports items weighing up to ten (10) pounds.
Ability to safely operate an automobile.
Ability to work in a fast paced office, meeting multiple deadlines, and
the ability to set priorities. Interaction with various individuals of the
department and hospital. Environment of changing regulatory requirements
