The Collateral Protection Specialist primary responsibility is to ensure the collateral for consumer loans is properly insured by tracking insurance documentation and adding proper coverage if necessary. In addition, this position will administer the repossession process by scheduling and tracking repossessions and processing title work once the repossession is complete.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
Manage the Collateral Protection Insurance process, communicating with both members and vendors.
Able to communicate in both written an oral format to internal and external members.
Utilize customer service skills to diffuse difficult situations in regards to having Collateral Protection Insurance placed on their account.
Assist on the phones with insurance questions along with other servicing questions.
Submit insurance claims to include, damage claims, skip claims, gap claims and other claims involving a consumer loan.
Process title work as needed.
Cross-train in other areas of the Servicing Department to serve as backup when needed.
Assign vehicles for repossession.
Update and maintain accounts with repossession updates and obtain values for auction.
Post payments for vehicle sale, gap and warranty checks
Provide documentation to third party companies
Submit & track repo and damage claims to third party vendors
Work effectively as a team member, participating actively and constructively. Display a professional manner in dealing with supervisors, co workers, members, and others inside and outside the credit union.
Consistent performance to meet or exceed the department's performance standards.
Abide by dress code policy as outlined in Employee Handbook.
Maintain regular and acceptable attendance and follow credit union rules governing attendance. Must be regularly available and willing to work such hours per day or per week as employer determines necessary or desirable to meet business needs.

Must be available and willing to travel to such locations and with such frequency as the credit union determines is necessary or desirable to meet business needs.
Must perform duties onsite, except those job duties which are customarily or by their nature performed offsite (such as making deliveries to designated locations, traveling to other offices for training purposes). Perform additional duties as assigned.

High school diploma or equivalent
Strong Customer Service Skills
Previous administrative experience is preferred
