We are currently seeking a Collection Specialist to join our Credit/Collections team. The Collection Specialist will be responsible for collecting the maximum amount of overdue funds from customers, which may include a variety of collection techniques, legal claims, and the selective use of outside collection services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Reviews delinquent account records and contacts customers regarding overdue amounts.
  • Issues dunning letters to overdue accounts.
  • Investigates and escalates customer complaints and billing discrepancies for resolution.
  • Negotiates settlements with problem accounts.
  • Reviews and resolves credit hold issues.
  • Monitors accounts on CIA, LC, Cash and Progressive billing terms.
  • Escalates accounts to Senior Collector for referral to collection agency, legal action or bad debt write off.
  • Works with cash application specialists for the proper application of customer remittances.
  • Researches and resolves customer payment discrepancies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language & Communication Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Manufacturing software; Spreadsheet software (Excel) and Word Processing software.
