We are seeking a highly motivated Collections Specialist in New Iberia, LA . Perform and coordinate credit and collections efforts in the Business Unit. Create awareness of customer business activities, such as bankruptcies, business dealings, credit ratings, and bad debts. The Collections Team supports a dynamic coast to coast business and requires the willingness to work altered hours.
Positively influence collections to impact regional receivables in a timely manner
Take an active role in collecting regional receivables in a timely manner
Identify, research and resolve/collect accounts that have aged over 45 days
Review customer files and contracts
Work with all levels of the organization to help resolve collection issues
Document and track all collection efforts on a weekly basis
Identify and recommend accounts for legal or collection agency action.
Work with attorneys in various states to resolve collection issues through legal action
Prepare additional reports when needed
Assist in credit approval as needed and examine credit data of clients and suppliers.
Monitor and manage past due accounts, issuing follow-up letter if payment is not received.
Set up condition of payment schedule and closely monitor collection of accounts, working positively with sales reps and customers to maintain sound relationships.
Responsible for credit and collection status report.
Able to perform credit checks, read bank information, read basic financial statements, and familiarity with Dun and
Bradstreet credit information to grant or deny extensions of credit
Conduct training sessions covering credit and collection techniques
Perform backup A/R and A/P functions when needed.
Associate’s degree (A.A.) or an equivalent combination of education and experience
3-5 years experience in a Support role
PC literacy in Microsoft Office Suite; Excel, Word. Experience with an ERP system, or customer relationship management (CRM) database
Multi-tasking capabilities; Must be able to work in fast paced, high energy environment
Knowledge of basic accounting and state lien laws
Willing to work flexible hours and overtime to accommodate Coast to Coast business coverage in US and Canada required or applicable
