Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health , founded in 1986, is an 83 bed facility within the city of Norfolk, Virginia. Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health offers comprehensive mental health programs to the Commonwealth of Virginia. We provide psychiatrically and medically managed acute and residential treatment for children and adolescents with significant impairments in their social and emotional development. We provide quality care to children and adolescents in need using evidence based practice treatments. We are accredited by The Joint Commission (TJC), and are licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia and The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS). Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health currently has a Collection Specialist position available. The candidate selected will be responsible for the following:
· Performs upfront collection functions on all new admissions.
· Provides financial counseling to guardians.
· Contacts insurance, third party payor or funding source to verify benefits and eligibility.
Requirements

Job Requirements:

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

Four or more years experience in healthcare billing and working with insurance companies.

Knowledge:

Must possess knowledge of medical terminology; insurance and third party payor reimbursement; ICD-9 coding; HCFA-485 and HCFA-486 Home Health claim forms; UB-92 and HCFA 1500 billing formats; good verbal and written communication skills; MS Office and AS400. Must possess excellent customer service skills; maintain professionalism when dealing with external customers, referral sources and clients.
