Preferred Medical Holdings is a fast-growing dynamic organization. We are currently looking for a professional, experienced and detail oriented Medicare/Medicaid Collections Associate to work in our Cergis Billing Division. The Collections Associate will locate and notify insurance patients and other payers of delinquent accounts by mail, telephone, email, and any other means necessary to solicit payment.

Essential duties and responsibilities of this position include:
  • Locate and monitor overdue accounts, using computers and a variety of automated systems
  • Research, analyze and resolve outstanding customer balances
  • Assess accounts to be re-billed, identifying those returned due to wrong carrier, no first report of injury, and denied claims
  • Establish accounts for follow-up
  • Advise customers of necessary actions and strategies for debt repayment
  • Document A/R collection efforts, file proof of claims and handle attorney correspondence
  • Notify Collections Supervisor of problem accounts and/or risky clients
  • Perform various administrative functions for assigned accounts, such as recording address changes
  • Prepare required reports including A/R Aging
  • Prepare and present to Collections Supervisor accounts to be written off or turned over to an outside collection agency

Collector
  • High School Diploma is required
Qualified candidates will have the following requirements and skills:
  • Three (3) years previous collections experience is required. Applicants with prior medical collections experience will be given preference
  • Previous Medicare/Medicaid Collections experience is required
  • Ability to meet defined performance and production goals
  • Professional demeanor and appearance is required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to assess strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Familiarity with current software packages such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
