Colorado State University invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the College of Engineering. This is an opportunity for the right individual to provide visionary leadership for a growing college at one of the nation’s leading research universities.

As part of a Land Grant University, the College of Engineering (COE) has an integrated mission of education, research, and public engagement. In fulfilling this mission, the objectives of the college under the leadership of the Dean are to: 1) Promote scholarly excellence aimed at advancing the state of knowledge in engineering and applied science, including research, development and technology transition; 2) Maintain and enhance quality teaching programs in its undergraduate and graduate programs; 3) Provide state-of-the-art teaching, research and physical infrastructure that facilitate breakthroughs in engineering and applied science; 4) Provide post-graduate support for the profession through continuing education; and 5) Provide outreach support to the community through technology solutions for global grand challenges by promoting collaboration and cooperation within public and private sector partners through extension services.

The College of Engineering has 114 faculty, of which 100 are tenured or tenure-track. There are 2,474 students enrolled in the college: 608 graduate students, and 1866 undergraduate majors. The college consists of five academic core departments and is also home to the Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere (CIRA), is a major contributor to the School of Biomedical Engineering, and is the lead institution or a major partner in two NSF Engineering Research Centers, an NSF Science and Technology Center, and two NSF IGERT programs. The Dean of the College of Engineering is responsible for overseeing a total annual budget of approximately $80 million, of which two major components are approximately $65 million from external research and $14 million in instructional and overhead budgets. The college is fully accredited by the ABET and is in the self-study year of the current ABET review. In April 2011, Colorado State University broke ground on Engineering II, a 122,000 square foot interdisciplinary research and academic facility that will bring faculty and students together in teams focused on health and the environment.
