This is an exciting opportunity for someone interested in Combined Cycle Power Plant Design. You will have the opportunity to develop expertise in the areas of CC thermodynamic cycles, power plant equipment design, and CC plant operation. This position also will allow the individual to develop a better knowledge of gas turbine and steam turbine technology.

Essential Responsibilities
In addition, you will:
  • Provide combined cycle performance and plant application engineering information to meet specific market opportunities as well as support projects from the initial proposal phase through the plant commercial operation
  • Be responsible for developing critical proposal information for extended scope combined cycle bids, including output, heat rate, and emissions guarantees
  • As a key technical lead, be required to coordinate proposal deliverables with the entire ITO team, including Commercial operations, Power Plant Engineering, PGT Application Engineering, Partners, etc.
  • Develop standard and proposal specific thermodynamic models using the approved thermal modeling software, currently GateCycle (the models will be used for generating guarantee performance and combined cycle heat balances for our customers)
  • Prepare technical documentation of the basis of combined cycle guarantees, partner agreements, and performance risk
  • Prepare power plant system and equipment definition and specifications in support of Engineering and purchasing
  • Execute performance evaluations on critical items, such as the HRSG, making sure that the purchased equipment fully meets GE's performance expectations
  • Periodically support customer and vendor meetings
  • Work with Energy Services on developing performance test procedures and provide support and evaluation for performance testing of GE combined cycle plants
  • Support development and maintenance of critical engineering software tools used in supporting proposals and requisitions
  • Significant engagement in groups Six Sigma and process improvement initiatives will be expected
  • Provide technical consultation to various Marketing and International organizations on combined cycle power plants

  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 5 years of related Engineering work ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Green Belt certified (GE employees only)

  • Background in Power Plant Component Thermal Analysis
  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • IGCC experience
  • Visual Basic for Applications Programming Experience
  • GateCycle & CycleLink Software Experience
  • Gas Turbine experience
