The employee is under the immediate supervision of the solid waste manager. Develops, promotes, and implements a Solid Waste disposal program designed to increase the number of commercial customers while retaining existing customers in the City service area. Provide cost saving opportunities for new commercial customers, and provide support and assistance to customers regarding solid waste disposal decisions for trash and recycling services. This position performs related duties as required.
This is a Non-Exempt, Temporary, Non-benefits eligible position.
Maintain accurate records and prepare routine reports.
Work with previous commercial accounts in an attempt to persuade them to return to City Solid Waste service.
Exercise initiative in spotting, approaching, and selling solid waste services to new customers.
Communicate with and respond pleasantly to a demanding and diverse public. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with business representatives, fellow employees and the general public. Communicate both orally and in writing.
Interpret codes, rules, regulations, and policies, utilize promotional brochures and related sales techniques to increase revenue and provide cost analyses for City and solid waste customers.
Conduct field audits to ensure proper service is onsite, and determine best needs of the customers.
Meet objectives set for cold calls, current and new customer contacts.
Create Sales training for Solid Waste Leads.
Establish aggressive sales plan with goals for obtaining new customers within 15 days of hire. ADDITIONAL EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

A valid Arizona driver license upon hire.
High School Diploma or GED required. Two-year degree or equivalency preferred.
Three years customer service, sales and waste management experience in the same or similar position required.
