Under the direction of the Manager, Commodity Management the role of Commodity Manager will be responsible for the purchase and expense management of less complex goods or services, used by the enterprise. Less complex goods and services are lower value, more easily defined such as discrete units. Plans, organizes and manages the sourcing activities, policies, procedures, tools, and practices of the enterprise for the assigned commodities.

This position will also be responsible for lowering enterprise operating expenses by aggregating spend with suppliers, negotiating favorable pricing, and guiding users to approved suppliers and products in order to achieve desired results.

The Commodity Manager monitors supplier performance and initiates remedial action when necessary and will regularly obtain benchmark prices and pricing information to ensure that First American is receiving the most cost effective, highest quality product or service available all while identifying and implementing Strategic Sourcing & Procurement cost savings initiatives at the enterprise level.

This candidate must possess strong procurement management skills with ability to manage multiple concurrent sourcing activities, strong supplier management skills, contract negotiation expertise, and ability to effectively interact and communicate with all levels of staff, management, and suppliers.

This position is key to achieving corporate profit improvement goals via enterprise cost reduction and avoidance programs and will be accountable for achieving a consistent downward trend in commodity expenses managed by the Commodity Manager, reporting cost savings and cost avoidance details; leverage First American’s procurement system and best practice methodologies to continually identify and capture new savings opportunities.

Responsibilities to include:
Develop and execute innovative strategies to continually increase managed spend for assigned commodities. Development of qualified, reliable suppliers and securing the best pricing, contractual terms, conditions, and service level agreements. Redline contract terms and conditions as needed and conduct negotiations with suppliers. Manage supplier performance and conduct scheduled supplier performance reviews. Personally abide by and enforce ethical practices in all dealings with company suppliers. Accomplish corporate commitments for procurement of goods and services through diverse suppliers. Manage the lifecycle of a supplier contract, including: initial negotiation, amendments, coordinating appropriate reviews, renewing/terminating agreements. Create and revise annually, a Commodity Business Plan, representative of all strategic procurement activities planned for the year. On-going marketing and evangelism of the Strategic Sourcing & Procurement’s vision, services, and accomplishments to internal and external customers. Plan and coordinate quarterly procurement business review reports for presentation to Manager, Commodity Management; prepare pertinent purchasing/analytical reports for various levels of management as required. Maintain the Strategic Sourcing & Procurement Department Savings Tracker Report. Maintain personal knowledge of tools, trends, and best practices within the Fortune 500 procurement marketplace via training, conferences, trade magazines, and professional associations. Achieve excellent customer service ratings from enterprise divisions utilizing Procurement’s services.

-Bachelor's degree in Business or similar area of study is required or equivalent experience. An MBA is preferred.
-Proven track record in Strategic Sourcing with 5-10 years procurement experience.
-Ability to recognize and adapt to corporate culture(s); proven ability to successfully introduce change in a centralized-decentralized management model.
-Must have ability to provide leadership within the assigned commodity; includes ability to develop a vision, strategies, and tactics that will lead the organization to stated goals and objectives.
-Excellent communication and presentation skills with staff and suppliers at all organizational levels are required.
-Strong relationship management, influencing and negotiating skills are required.
-Understanding of the importance and is committed to customer service and customer satisfaction.
-Comprehensive knowledge of corporate procurement practices; as well as general accounting and finance principals.
-Ability to analyze business processes, gather and document requirements, identify issues, re-engineer and optimize process flows, and organize and communicate complex concepts.
-Experience with real estate title industry is a plus.
-Working knowledge of Oracle Procurement application or similar eProcurement tool is preferred.
-Experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, and Internet Explorer is required.
