Spectranetics has a history of investing in innovative new product development to advance medical care for Lead Management and Peripheral Arterial Disease. We are expanding our Supply Chain management function to include strategic sourcing and supplier management.

The Commodity Manager is responsible for leading sourcing activities for multiple categories including contract manufacturing to achieve New Product Development project goals and total cost and quality goals throughout the product lifecycle. In this position, you will need to develop strong relationships with the New Product Development team, Supplier Development and Quality Engineers and Buyers to be able to lead supplier selection, development and overall supplier management including managing the entire contract life cycle from RFx activities to supplier exit utilizing a structured sourcing process.

Specific responsibilities:

Utilizing a structured strategic coursing process, you will:
  • Work with internal customers to develop sourcing strategies for specific projects, purchases or commodities which will best meet business needs at lowest sustainable costs

  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers which best meet business needs

  • Solicit, evaluate, negotiate, and award contracts for specific purchases (complex technical, commercial, and/or financial aspects) as well as administer contracts as required

  • Analyze supply base, reduce risk, assess and optimize total cost

  • Lead supplier segmentation and consolidation initiatives

  • Improve Spectranetics’ supply chain, manage procurement process and projects, improve internal customer and supplier relationships

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or related discipline

  • 5 or more years of relevant experience

  • Strong quantitative and data analysis skills

  • Strong project management skills.

  • Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in supporting Medical Device or FDA regulated products
  • Experience or relevant industry knowledge of contract manufacturing
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Change agent with ability to influence internal customers, stakeholders and suppliers
  • Problem solving experience in reducing total costs and improving processes
  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration or related field or continued updating and/or progress toward advanced degree or certification in related area
  • Lean experience and/or training
  • Experience using Oracle EBS and Agile Product Lifecycle Management
