The Corporate Communications Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing and managing communications planning and public relations initiatives to build community and constituent support, and enhance the organization’s national, statewide, regional and local reputation. This position is responsible for developing proactive strategies and tactics for early identification of potential and emerging issues that may impact the organization, and will engage the appropriate multi-disciplinary stakeholders to manage emerging issues before they become rallying points for external constituencies and leads crisis and disaster communications. The position is required to work closely with organizational leaders, have the ability to self-manage and lead projects from conception to completion and will work in partnership with the customer relationship managers in leading strategy and project management.
Responsible for developing and implementing effective public relations and communication strategies to achieve corporate communications objectives and goals aimed at enhancing the organization’s reputation as an industry leader, and for managing issues and crisis communications.
Responsible for working collaboratively with regional and local communications efforts to align regional and local public relations, reputation, issues and crisis management to achieve corporate communications objectives and goals.
Reputation, Issues and Crisis Communications Management Strategy and Execution
Responsible for developing, planning, managing and implementing communication plans that build community and constituent support, the management of issues and crisis which impact the organization, and the reputation of the organization.
Responsible for developing, implementing and managing proactive strategies to identify potential and emerging issues before they become flash points for external constituency groups or media, and supporting effective multi-disciplinary issues management teams enterprise-wide. Teams may include senior executives, legal, HR, operations or other relevant parties. Leads media training for leadership and physicians .
Responsible for managing the organization’s reputation management strategy designed to cultivate a strong, positive reputation of the organization amongst its stakeholders. Creates and executes proactive thought leadership strategies and projects that enhance the organizations reputation and identifying new opportunities to leverage the organization’s brand and market strengths to tell the organization’s story.
Responsible for managing disaster and crisis communications planning and execution for enterprise-wide disasters/crises and crises/disasters related to local markets, regions and product lines. Counsels appropriate stakeholders on organizational issues.
Must have an understanding of social media tools and digital communications technologies and uses that knowledge to integrate traditional, online and digital communications and engage social media influencers to enhance the organization’s reputation.
Will work collaboratively to ensure key messages are communicated with appropriate audiences.
Serves as Vidant Health’s representative to news media organizations
Will establish and maintain productive relationships with the media while meeting their public information needs .
Research, write and edit press releases and fact sheets as related to specific health care disciplines, issues, facilities, etc.
Will respond to media inquiries in conjunction with Vidant executive staff.
Provides support and assistance in the management of communications during crisis situations.
Coordinates participation of hospital employees, medical school faculty members and other health care personnel in television, radio and print interviews.
Responsible for managing multiple complex projects from inception to completion that cross business units in order to support communications related to organization’s positioning, reputation, brand, issues and crisis management from inception through completion.
Plans and manages schedules for multiple tasks and responsible for meeting deadlines in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
Must demonstrate experience in financial analysis and tracking. Responsible for managing budget, resource allocation, and tracking ROI.
Responsible for identifying internal and external resources and requirements for successful execution of communications initiatives.

- Bachelor’s Degree; preferred in Journalism, English or related field.
- At least five years experience in a corporate setting.
- Must be proficient in current software, digital tools, photography and other editing software.
- Must possess excellent writing and communication skills.
- Must have direct and regular media contact and relationships. Must have experience communicating and handling issues in the digital and social media space, and have strong project management skills
