Minimum of a high school diploma.
Strong writing and proof-reading skills required. Please submit at least three relevant writing samples along with your resume and cover letter.
Strong oral communication skills required.
Computer literacy or the proven ability to quickly learn various types of computer software.
Well organized, detail oriented, with the ability to work well under pressure of multiple deadlines.
Proficiency in computer programs related to communications such as: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, PhotoShop and Illustrator); any form of website design software; Survey Monkey or other survey software; social media, such as Facebook, Twitter and HootSuite; and iMovie or other video editing software.
Associate or Bachelor's degree in some aspect of communications.
Experience in a communications, marketing or public relations role in a business or a school.
Ability to write
for different mediums, from short web announcements and tweets, to longer newsletter articles.
Experience/familiarity with effective website navigation and related philosophies.
Familiarity with school concepts, practices and procedures.
Experience with photography.
Coordinator of Communications and Marketing
To assist in communications of the school district. Provide assistance in development and execution of agency communications and public relations activities, both external and internal.
Produces written communications, articles, reports, and other correspondence.
Communicates effectively with other district personnel.
Assists in executing the messages and communications of the district for positive public relations. This includes news releases, web page content, newsletter articles, special events, e-mail, etc.
Under direction of the Coordinator of Communication updates/edits content of district web site, district print and electronic material.
Takes photos in the district as needed to augment district website, articles, print media, etc.
Assists in quality control of messages and branding of the district's image.
Conducts online research at the direction of administrator/supervisor.
Participates as an ad hoc member of the communications team of the district emergency team.
Develops and maintains an effective level of communication with appropriate personnel.
Assists the Coordinator of Communication including answering and making phone calls, replying to phone and e-mail messages, operating other office machines like fax or copier, filing work and other clerical work as requested by administrator/supervisor.
