The Communications Associate supports the execution of BHEF's written internal and external story, and is a strong communicator across a variety of channels. He/She will draft programmatic content; executive briefings; news releases; website content; presentations and other materials. This individual will also play a key role in BHEF's bi-annual member meetings, representing the organization, along with managing logistics and other elements.

Role/Responsibilities:
Communications
Collaborates with senior team members and programmatic leads to develop messages that engage, deliver audiences, and maintain BHEF's leadership space
Supports national communications events and complex projects with targeted messages to tiered audiences
Writes news releases, talking points, blog entries, executive briefings, member updates, materials for two annual meetings, working group calls, social media posts, and other deliverables as needed
Provides editorial support to BHEF collaterals and products
Manages CEO-driven member communications and monitors CEO ghost account
Uses graphics design skills (using InDesign) to create internal and external collaterals, to include templates, presentations, invitations, reports, and other items as assigned
Manages BHEF's master electronic calendar and BHEF deliverables timeline
Assists website manager with content support as needed
Events
Takes the lead in scripting BHEF members for semi-annual events
Responsible for minutes and initial drafts of summary reports from annual meetings
Manage Webinars

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in communications or related field and a minimum of two years' experience in communications, journalism, marketing, or a comparable field
Strong writing skills that have the ability to capture the voice of a brand and execute across multiple platforms
Excellent communications skills - written and spoken - to include editing
Experience in working across department and organizational lines
Professional poise and ability to interact with C-suite executives from industry and higher education, along with senior Federal officials, members of Congress, and/or the Administration
Impeccable attention to detail and project follow through
Expert in Microsoft Office Suite, InDesign, and Adobe

Desired:
Media relations, public policy, and/or advocacy experience
Capabilities in HTML or CSS, or desire to learn HTML and CSS
The incumbent should have familiarity with knowledge management technology and online community-building tools (webcasting, blogs, etc.)
An understanding of the non-profit environment
