Major/Essential Duties of Job
This position will provide general communication assistance in the office of communications and public relations for the Division of Research, primarily in the area of conceptualizing and producing audio-visual material. Duties include, but are not limited to: collaborating with a team of communicators to conceptualize and produce audio-visual productions for use online and in public presentations, with the goal to promote research at Texas A&M. Help expand and improve online and print initiatives through strategic content development. Communicating and coordinating with communications- and research-related offices across the University to develop relevant and meaningful content, including the Division of Marketing and Communications, Division of Government Relations, and the University's 10 colleges. Providing support for all Division of Research publications (print, web, audio-visual, etc.), prominent public presentations, and public-relations initiatives. Using knowledge and expertise to provide support to all units within the Division of Research. Providing support for web content management. Providing support in leveraging social media outlets to increase online traffic to research-related topics at the University. Other duties as assigned.
Performing other related duties as necessary and appropriate for the position as assigned by the assistant vice president for communications and public relations, including working with other Division staff members on publications, campaigns, events, and projects as needed.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Three years of communications and/or marketing experience. Experience with conceptualizing, producing, and editing audio-visual material for use online and in public presentations. Experience in writing for audio-visual productions and developing multi-media content. Experience with identifying and interviewing subjects for journalistic pieces. Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects. Familiarity with Adobe Audition. Excellent oral and written communications skills. Attention to detail. Requires the ability to multi-task, work cooperatively with others, and act independently to see projects through.
Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree. Four or more years of communications and/or marketing experience. Ability to research complex topics and condense key concepts into clear ideas and sound bites. Experience writing for print and online publications. Experience with photography. Familiarity with the principles of graphic design and branding. Familiarity with managing websites and using a content-management-system. Familiarity with social media. Experience working in a higher education setting. Resourcefulness and creativity.
