BASIC FUNCTION: The basic functions of this position are to analyze, design and deliver communications solutions, using specialized technical knowledge, and to ensure that services are delivered on time and within budget. Additionally, the incumbent will maintain communications services, troubleshoot issues that arise, and provide advanced technical support to the organization and its customers. This position works independently or as a member of a team to develop and implement advanced voice, data, or video communications solutions based on dynamic business needs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats. This includes interacting with company personnel and customers via telephone, e-mail, and face-to-face meetings. Ability to utilize personal computer and other basic office equipment. Availability to respond on an on-call basis 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to utilize a ladder for the purpose of accessing cabling in the ceiling. Abilitiy to utilize electronic test equipment to analyze and facilitate expeditious repair to communications equipment. Availability to travel by automobile, airplane, train etc. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. RESPONSIBILITIES: Serve in a leadership role to provide long-range strategic communications designs and development of new products and services for the company and it's customers. This includes the ability to understand customer requirements and negotiate based on available technology solutions. Remain current on new advances in the communications field through product briefings, trade shows, conferences and seminars, professional groups, trade publications, and personal contacts, and participate in the controlled testing and implementation of new technologies. Identify applications for new technological advances and provide recommendations for the implementation of these solutions. Track and reorganize resources to accomplish business goals and objectives. Provide communications needs assessments including network analysis, solution design, vendor research and comparison, Request for Proposals, and development of written project plans. Coordinate vendor resources in the design, development, and implementation of new communications solutions. Provide advanced technical support and training to the operational staff for the ongoing support of existing communications solutions. Provide technical communications consulting services to the company's customers, both via telephone and onsite at the customer's facility. Develop and maintain proper documentation for all new communications configurations and changes, following established change management control procedures. Provide for high availability of communications solutions for the company and its customers. This includes design, implementation, documentation and continuous support of a business resumption plan in the event of a catastrophic occurrence affecting service to the company or its customers. Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Bachelors' Degree in Information Technology, Communications or equivalent combination of education and experience required. One or more industry recognized engineering certification required; (Cisco, Nortel, Avaya or related).

EXPERIENCE: Minimum ten (10) years experience in the Information Technology operating in a communications environment required. Minimum six (6) years experience in complex communications technology projects required in at least eight of the following: Ethernet, Token Ring, Frame Relay, SNA, TCP/IP, IPX, SNMP, Voice over IP, ISDN, VPN, DS1, DS3, Mutiplexing, Long Distance, PBX, ACD, Analog Handsets, Digital Handsets, etc. Extensive experience working with Cisco networking equipment (Nexus platform preferred) Network switching, routing, firewall, load balancer, and WAN Optimization product experience Voice over IP Background should be focused on Network Design/Architecture vs. Technical Support Microsoft Visio Diagramming experience Cisco Wireless Control System preferred Cisco TAC/ACS preferred Cisco Unified Computing and Servers preferred
