Common Cause is seeking a Communications Intern with excellent research, writing, and analytical skills who can work independently and with Common Cause staff. Interns will research money in politics, ethics in government, redistricting, and filibuster reform issues. They will need to stay up-to-date on issues moving through Congress and help to link Common Cause issues to current events. Interns will also work on state and local issues when needed. Interns will obtain experience writing press releases, memos, and blog posts. They will attend congressional hearings and other events related to Common Cause issues.
QUALIFICATIONS: : The successful candidate should have excellent writing and research skills; knowledge of and interest in national politics; strong consideration will be given to students who have written for print or online publications. Other highly desired skills include experience with content management systems, HTML, Wordpress; digital photography, video, and editing; graphic design and social media tools like Facebook and Twitter.
