Primary Purpose:
Responsible for managing internal and external communications initiatives as directed by management as well as the management of messages stemming from charitable and business development events.
Essential Functions: Support both internal and external communications strategies as directed. Work with executives and business units to create cohesive communication strategies across the organization and in conjunction with business/CEO priorities. Collaborate with executives and consultants toward developing and implementing strategic communications that reflect the company's mission, market, priorities, challenges, culture and identity. Serve as spokesperson and representative of the company at business, public and charitable events as warranted. Develop and maintain relationships with key media that cover the scope of interests for ACADEMI across traditional and digital media. Develop and manage executive and thought leadership communications initiatives that address significant organizational accomplishments. Collaborate with business units to develop integrated communication campaigns for services and program initiatives that maximize reach and impact of strategic messages. Communication platforms includes, but are not limited to company website, newsletter, blog, events, speaker series, media opportunities, new business, and Intranet. Assist in managing messages by maximizing use of social media platforms. Identify potential issues that could negatively affect the brand or corporate reputation; develop advance response plans and provide oversight for execution of response plans. Other duties as assigned.

Required Education/Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Public Relations, English, Journalism, or related field required. A minimum of five years of experience in a communications capacity with a deep knowledge of media, external and internal communications required.
Professional communications experience honed in product or corporate communications/public relations in agency, corporate, government or trade association organizations required. Strong public speaking and presentation skills in small and large group settings required.
Effective oral and written communication skills within all levels of the organization. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion. Problem solving skills with an analytical thought process. Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.

Working Conditions:
Work is based in a busy office environment and subject to frequent interruptions. Normal work hours are Monday-Friday 8:00 to 5:00, however some extended or weekend hours may be required. Travel with overnight stays will also be required.

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 25 lbs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching and bending throughout the workday.
