The Virginia Board of Accountancy's (VBOA) mission is to protect the citizens of the Commonwealth through a regulatory program of licensure and compliance of Certified Public Accountants (CPA) and CPA firms.

VBOA is seeking a Communications Manager who will be responsible for creating, implementing and managing the VBOA communications and public relations programs that effectively describe and promote the VBOA. Duties and responsibilities include providing accurate and timely information of the VBOA's achievements, projects and services to internal and external customers using a variety of communications tools including newsletters, email, web presence, social media outlets and videos. Responsibilities include performing preliminary research activities, creating basic layout and designs, editing, performing final proof of communications for grammar, style and punctuation, working with VBOA staff to develop reports, presentations and other communications, managing the agency's website content and online presence and training staff on writing or graphics as needed. Responsibilities also include serving as the agency safety officer, emergency coordination officer (ECO), maintenance of continuity of operations plan, employee recognition functions, tracking and reporting employee training activities, developing and managing VBOA's administrative policies and procedures, VBOA customer service and providing special assistance to the Executive Director and the Deputy Director when requested.

Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will: Demonstrate ability to develop/produce reports and newsletters, manage multiple projects, work well independently and in a team environment and speak/present to small - large groups (internal and external customers); Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills; Demonstrate Proficiency in grammar, spelling and punctuation in both document production and editing; Have exceptional writing and verbal communication skills; Have proficiency with Adobe and Microsoft Office products to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher; Have a degree from a four-year post secondary institution with concentrations in communications, journalism or public relations that include extensive writing, editing, research and preparing presentations and/or speeches, or a combination of educational concentrations and significant job experience.
