The communications manager is responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring outcome-oriented outreach strategies for a large-scale, high-visibility IT transformation initiative. The manager will coordinate a comprehensive communications approach that: 1. enhances awareness and understanding of the endeavor, and 2. addresses potential obstacles to user buy-in and acceptance. As such, the communications manager must flexibly provide strategic direction while also ensuring delivery at the project/operational level. His/her daily responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Crafting and disseminating key messaging based on leaderships vision;
Developing, implementing, and refining the initiatives overarching communications plan;
Managing the initiatives outreach campaign - including event facilitation, ad/announcement development and placement, social media and traditional print usage, and digital and broadcast outreach;
Working with designers, the digital communications team, change management specialists, and other stakeholders to ensure an integrated communications approach;
Conducting stakeholder analysis and communications impact analysis;
Reporting on status of the communication strategy;
Responding to executive level quick-turn taskings; and
Proactively cultivating relationships both within and outside of the initiative.

Must haves skills -

Substantive communications experience honed in a corporate environment
Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and managing a communications strategy
Experience leveraging an array of communications platforms/media - including print, web-based tools, vlogs, blogs, etc.
Experience writing press releases and pitches, talking points, website annoucements, marketing collateral slicks, blog posts, and newsletter articles
Experience tracking and evaluating media impact and effectiveness
Capability of balancing multiple, competing priorities within a deadline-driven and service-focused environment
Ability to work with ambiguous guidance
4+ years experience

Preferred skills, but not required -

Masters degree in communications, marketing, public relations or related discipline
Experience with implementing a dynamic communications campaign within an IT- or finance-oriented environment
Experience with change management methodologies

Ideal background or company -

Corporate, IT, and/or finance related communications managerial experience

Non-technical skills i.e. communication, writing, presentation -
Excellent problem-solving and implementation skills
Strong interpersonal skills - including ability to cultivate strong professional relationships
Clear, concise, and effective writing ability
