Job Description

COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER, Facilities, to provide an overarching vision and strategy and develop and implement a communications plan that represents Facilities goals, activities, and accomplishments to internal and external audiences. Key responsibilities include working with management to develop and implement a communications strategy; developing and managing a range of digital and print communications to connect clients to Facilities’ services and build awareness of programs and activities; and lead the redesign of department website and write news articles and press releases communicating department programs, services, and capital projects. Will manage a range of communications including websites, press releases, enews, social media, reports, brochures, letters, and print collateral; develop communication plans for Facilities’ programs, ensuring accuracy, relevance, and timeliness; develop creative strategy, prepare content, and direct and oversee design and production; and provide supervision and professional development.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: a B.S. degree, preferably in English, communications, or journalism; a minimum of seven years’ experience in marketing, communications, or related field; three years’ experience in a supervisory/managerial role; strong project management skills; excellent writing, editing, interviewing, and research skills; demonstrated expertise using a range of writing styles to write feature stories, online content, social media, and broadcast messages; ability to translate complex information into common language; Microsoft Office experience; ability to travel across campus for extended periods of time; and ability to take and edit photographs. Familiarity with HTML, Adobe CS5, Drupal content management, social media platforms, and related web tools preferred. Experience in higher education, facilities management, and/or construction organizations desirable. Job #10313-Q

There will be occasional work outside the normal schedule to cover events and attend meetings.
