The Communications Manager will be responsible for execution of the internal and external communications functions. Reporting to the Vice President of Communications, he or she will generate public relations results that meaningfully build the reputation of, and regard for, the company, its management and the services it offers.

The individual will work directly with the Vice President to guide the senior management team through communications strategies and media interviews. The communications manager will play a key role in driving the roll out of the new brand strategy and new products.

As a key member of the communications team, the successful candidate must be a creative and flexible thinker with the presence and poise to work effectively with the company’s C-level officers as well as all other levels and functions of the organization. Additionally, this individual must possess outstanding written and verbal skills and a proven record of managing key, opinion-leading news media.

Duties and Essential Job Functions:
  • Media Relations
    • Ensure that media relations is a core competency for the company and that news coverage of Move Inc. and its brand assets is both a competitive advantage and differentiator as the company’s services grow and evolve
    • Use the company’s access to and relationships with the news media to build the company’s reputation among its key public constituencies, specifically consumers
    • Work directly with our agency partner to deepen and expand the company’s relationships with business media while building upon relationships with the consumer/lifestyle press
    • At times, represent the company as a media spokesperson
  • Internal Collaboration
    • Partner with the heads of the various marketing channels, product, sales and finance/IR to ensure consistent internal and external messaging
  • Internal Comms and Employment Branding
    • Partner with other functions in the company to manage internal communications and work with the Vice President to insure key messages are communicated to our employees
    • Manage the company’s “All Hands” meetings and coordinate internal communications when they are related to press announcements
    • Work closely with HR and Senior Staff on key messages
  • Fiscal Management
    • Manage projects to budget and ensure that goals of those programs are established and met via objectives and evaluation metrics
Qualifications:
  • 4-5 years of experience as a communications professional
  • Specific expertise in media relations in the tech, consumer and mobile industries.
  • B2C and B2B experience
  • Versed in both traditional and new ways to tell the company’s story to various constituencies
Required:
  • A Bachelor’s degree is required
  • Strong writing/editing skills
  • Imaginative use of other media and social channels to ensure messages are effective and engaging
  • Ability to manage multiple communication projects that include internal and external components
  • Possesses strategic insight -- anticipates future consequences and trends (consumer)
  • Creates competitive and breakthrough communications plans
  • Adept at understanding technical information quickly and applying that information to create effective communications
  • Can maneuver through complex political situations effectively, is sensitive to how people and organizations function, anticipates "landmines" and plans approach accordingly
  • Able to think outside the communication function and apply the same standards of judgment to other plans developing within the organization
  • Able to understand, evaluate and suggest improvement through sound judgment
  • Comfortable with continually changing demands/priorities – flexible
  • Experience as a resource to senior management
  • Experience in creating strategic communications, internal and/or external
  • Experience in working cross-functionally with internal and/or external communication partners
