The role of the Communications Specialist is to support three Cargill Animal Protein (Cargill Pork, Cargill Value Added Meats-Food Service, Cargill Case Ready) businesses in analysis, planning, and execution of internal communications strategies and programs that support business objectives and help foster two-way communication, enhance engagement, and build awareness of business strategy among key stakeholders.
- Execute and refine the existing internal communication plan for the business that is aimed at aligning leaders and employees with overarching business strategy, including the long-term vision and the incremental steps required to achieve it
- Partner and collaborate with key stakeholders within each business to build understanding and context of key initiatives and drivers impacting the communication plan and strategy at all levels of the organization. Steps include audience analysis, issue identification, key message development, tactical plans using varied channels, feedback and measurement approaches
- Advise and consult leaders and key teams on how to utilize communication best practices and develop strong business communications skills
- Provide writing, editing and implementation support for business partner projects
Bachelor's degree, preferably in English, journalism, public relations, marketing communications or related field.
At least 4 years professional work experience in employee communications, preferably in a large, complex organization
Excellent grammar with knowledge of AP style
Excellent written and oral communications skills - with ability to provide a clear and concise summary of information
Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects under tight deadlines
Self-starter and effective problem solver
Strong team player with ability to make connections across a cross-functional team
Experience managing communication projects from start to finish
Understanding of technology and how to use it effectively in communicating with employees
Master’s degree or coursework completed toward advanced degree.
Experience in providing work direction to vendors
Strong customer service orientation and relationship-building skills with a demonstrated passion for business and delivering the very best products and services
