Murdoch Developmental Center is a state residential facility for individuals with intellectual disabilities/developmental disabilities, located in Butner, North Carolina, near the Research Triangle area. Murdoch is a caring community where professionals work with people of various ages, cognitive, and functional abilities. To be considered for employment, applicants must be in good standing with the North Carolina Health Care Personnel Registry.

The primary purpose of this position is to oversee the day-to-day operation of the Soap & Laundry program, located in Vocational Enterprises. Work performed involves measuring, filling and sealing individual bags of powdered laundry and dishwashing detergent used at Murdoch Developmental Center. Bath towels from residential living areas are washed, dried and folded each weekday and mop heads are also washed and dried each weekday. This position functions at the lead trainer and is also responsible for the supervision of two Community Employment Technicians in the area. Scheduled work hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
Working knowledge of behavior management techniques, task analysis techniques and teaching strategies with intellectually disabled persons. Employee must have supervisory experience, as well as programming experience (prefer within a vocational setting). Employee must be able to demonstrate the ability to assess client skill level, evaluate client progress, observe behavior, and communicate observations and recommendations effectively in written and oral form. Core Plus Advanced NCI certification, as well as First Aid and CPR certification are required for this position.

Management Prefer: applicants have basic computer skills, especially with WORD program.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Graduation from high school or equivalent and three years of work experience in production, trades, or related work that provides the above knowledge and skills, preferable providing exposure to the population to be served.
