Central Regional Hospital, a state psychiatric in-patient facility located in Butner, NC seeks Community Employment Specialist I. The primary purpose of the Community Employment Specialist I is to provide community living skills and vocational training to patients served in the Community Living Program (CLP), which is a subcomponent of the Department of Psychosocial Treatment. This position reports to a Lead Community Employment Specialist II at CRH and provides instruction to patients to help them achieve specific vocational and community living skills or behaviors, often employing techniques of behavior modification and one-to-one supportive counseling. Employees also may solicit potential job placements from hospital-based or community-based employers and explain program services to patients and other treatment providers. The position also works collaboratively with the other community employment and Community Living Program staff to assure effective implementation of the vocational and community living skills treatments. Work schedule: 8:00 am -5:00 pm Monday thru Friday with flexibility.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
General knowledge of the application of task analysis techniques. General knowledge of the practical application of behavior management and supportive counseling techniques. General knowledge of mental illness and developmental disability. Ability to plan and organize to solve problems. Ability to develop rapport with employers and other involved human service professionals and family members. Ability to establish rapport and relate to the population served; to evaluate client progress, observe behavior, communicate observations and recommendations effectively in written and oral form.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Graduation from high school or equivalent and three years of work experience in production, trades, or related work that provides the above knowledges and skills, preferable providing exposure to the population to be served; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
