This position is responsible for implementing individualized employment goals intended to enhance appropriate work behaviors, recording observed patient participation and behaviors, and propose changes in work crew assignments based on the skills and interests of the patient

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
Knowledge of workshop guidelines, practices, programming and goals
Ability to use therapeutic techniques to interact with patients to create an environment conducive to successful patient involvement.
Knowledge of behavioral management techniques
Ability to work with patients with mental and emotional handicaps.
Ability to reduce a work project into separate tasks and demonstrate/instruct those steps to others.
Ability to communicate, written and verbally, observed patient behaviors, skills and progress clearly and concisely.
Some knowledge of food preparation and service techniques
Ability to lift and move heavy objects safely, up to 50 pounds. Additional preferred KSA: Prefer training and experience working with individuals who have been diagnosed with serious mental illness. Valid and current NC Divers License required and must be maintained as a condition of employment. Commercial Driver's License preferred.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Graduation from high school or equivalent and two years of experience in production, trades, or related work that provides the above knowledges and skills, preferably providing exposure to the population to be served; or graduation from high school or an equivalent and two years of experience working with developmentally disabled clients; or an associate degree in the human services field; or an associate degree in a field other than human services and one year of experience working with developmentally disabled clients; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
