Come work for the company that received Entrepreneur Magazine’s 2010 award for #1 company in the environmental category and has been named a UN 2012 Leader of Change.

If you are an undergraduate, MBA/graduate student or a recent graduate with a strong interest in green business, eco-capitalism, upcycling, recycling or social entrepreneurship, TerraCycle offers a unique opportunity for incredible growth, and innovative work. We are looking for people who are dependable, enthusiastic, and professional to join us.

Community Engagement Internship:

Spend this summer working for the world leader in collection and recycling of post-consumer, non-recycle waste. The Community Engagement team is looking for interns to support the Community Engagement Coordinator in developing and expanding local collection programs in New Jersey that will subsequently be used as a model for national expansion. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to design and implementation; including developing a project plan, building awareness within local communities and centralized collection locations with a focus on retail locations, summer camps and community events; coordinating the pickup of collected material and analyzing results in order to make suggestions for improvements or plans for expansion.

Candidates can expect both office and field work, including significant community outreach, in addition to managing other project details.

Nuts and Bolts:

The internship is located at our graffiti-covered global headquarters in Trenton, NJ. Interns will be asked to bring their own laptop computer to the office, but printing facilities and general office supplies will be provided. The preferred duration of the internship is May 28th to August 15th with an expected minimum of 20 hours per week. However, each internship can be customized, and the duration can vary on a case to case basis. Though, students seeking college credit must adhere to their educational institution’s internship requirements.

Although the internship is unpaid, we provide a bountiful lunch every day, a well-organized education experience with interdepartmental lectures so that you can learn about all aspects of TerraCycle’s operations and business management in general, and regular intern events and company parties. In the previous year, TerraCycle had over 100 interns from top colleges, law schools and business schools. It’s a dynamic and highly charged entrepreneurial environment. TerraCycle will offer college credit and recommendations upon successful completion of the internship. Due to the company’s eco-focus, some schools, including Princeton, provide a stipend for their students to work at TerraCycle, so please check with your school if they can provide support.

Qualifications:

We seek individuals who can easily adapt to our fast-paced environment and show the necessary focus to complete projects in a short amount of time while maintaining the initiative and independence to complete other tasks that may not necessary have rigid guidelines or a set deadline. Community Engagement interns should have their own vehicle, proficient in Microsoft Office, ability to be a team player and critical thinker in addition to having excellent verbal and written communication skills.
