Job Description:
The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Research Institute is an interdisciplinary institution dedicated to conducting basic, clinical and translational research on conditions and diseases that affect children, and is part of The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and University of Pennsylvania research community

The Community Asthma Prevention Program (CAPP) is seeking a Home Visitor.
CAPP's goal is to educate families about asthma to prevent their children’s asthma from getting worse.

The Home Visitor's primary responsibility is to work with families in their homes for one year, teaching a 5-session asthma course and demonstrating how to keep a home free of asthma triggers.

The Home Visitor sees the family at least once a month to gather symptom diaries and documents how the intervention is maintained in the home. The home visitor is responsible for a caseload and caseload follow-up and data entry

The ideal candidate will have a High School diploma or equivalent with three years of relevant experience. College course work and/or job experience preferred.

Knowledge of local Philadelphia community and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with urban population.
Preference given to West and North Philadelphia residents.
Preference given to candidates with family or personal history of asthma.

Knowledge base of community organizations and current developments in the community. Good interpersonal skills, communications skills, problem solving skills, teaching and coaching skills and community networking skills. Ability to travel by car preferred

Requirements:
- Requires some degree of flexibility of skills and hours
- Value for research integrity and collaborative research
- High degree of understanding of clinical protocol measures
- Strong people skills and good communication skills
- Great organizational and time management skills
- Effective problem solving/critical thinking skills
- Requires thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
