DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provides oral and/or written reference services and information assistance to the community at large, maintains/organizes existing MOPD programs and services such as HVLP/LYB Pro Bono Legal Clinic, STCL Legal Clinic, Free Visual Fire Alarm Programs, Traffic Enforcement Volunteer Training and Tax Assistance for Persons with Disabilities, help direct volunteers assisting MOPD programs under supervisor oversight, confer with MOPD Staff regarding constituents listed on City Council speakers list for disability related issues, confer with constituent and prepare a memo of constituent concerns for MOPD staff to address; under supervisory direction, set up HCOD room, post agendas, reserve interpreters/CART as needed, communicate with HCOD as assigned, and other duties as assigned.
There are no major sources of discomfort, i.e., essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature and air conditions. The position is physically comfortable, the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc.
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts, Business Administration or a related field.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Two years of experience in community organizational work, resource and referral services, or a closely related field are required.
MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.**
