A Geocaching Community Manager acts as the face of Geocaching to a community of over 5 million Geocachers around the globe. A great Community manager can roll-up their sleeves and slay hundreds of customer inquiries in a day, all while keeping an eye out for inspirational content, and planning the next great real-world event that brings our community together.
What You’ll Do:
Communicate: Geocachers are an inquisitive, passionate, and creative community who reach out to us through many channels: Twitter, Facebook, email, even in-person visits to Geocaching HQ in Fremont. You’ll be answering their questions - big and small and helping to shape the voice of the company and public perception of Geocaching.
Share: Amazing Geocaching stories happen every day. We’ll be here to catalog them and share them with the world through whatever megaphone we can get our hands on - Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest are a few good ones.
Rally: Geocachers love to meet other Geocachers. You make this happen by being the face of the company at community events.
Superb Writing - You gnash your teeth when you see the “word” alot. You can turn a grammatically correct and ridiculously compelling phrase in way less than 140 characters. You know that multiples of three are the key to humor.
Social Media - Is so integrated into your life that you roll your eyes when you hear the term social media.
Marketing Savvy – You get that drawing in new geocachers and making our existing community love us even more are key objectives. You are capable of thinking strategically about how we communicate with our community to achieve these goals.
Diplomacy - You can zoom in to solve someone’s legitimate problem, and then zoom out to see the ridiculous in an overwrought situation. Keeping things humming is your forte.
Prioritized Juggling - You see a pile of work. No. A mountain of work. And, you know how to attack it. Sometimes it takes a pickaxe, and sometimes it takes dynamite. But, you can figure out the right tools to move that mountain.
Self-Motivated - You don’t need someone to yell, “Start juggling!!!”
Decider – You have good judgment and use it to make smart decisions. You don’t need a manual or someone over your shoulder to tell you how to problem solve.
Collaborator - You love being part of a team and rallying fellow co-workers. Your life-long motto is “we are all in this together”. And part of that is graciously receiving and owning coaching and feedback.
Love of Geocaching - Even if you’re new to Geocaching, you can instantly see why people get hooked on finding that next ‘cache!
