The Community Outreach Specialist assists in implementing community based programs and services available to at-risk youth and families. Assists in identifying at-risk youth and families with input from the courts, schools and SRS and acts as liaison between agencies. This position is responsible for connecting youth and families to community resources and providing preventive programs that wil prevent children from entering states custody.

The successful candidate will train to facilitate/present the following programs, but not limited to:

All Stars Program : A research-based program designed to prevent substance use, fighting and delinquency. The program also enhances positive characterists such as idealism, commitment to a positive lifestyle, wholesome standards, resiliency, and positive relations with parents and other adults.

Common Sense Parenting : A training model that focuses on experiential learning. There are five training components that give parents an opportunity to learn and use the parenting skills, in a neutral class steeing, before putting the skills to use, at home, with their children. The five components are - Instruction, Modeling, Practice, Feedback and Review.

Choices : A program aimed at helping ttens learn to make good decisions. The program encourages teens to stop and think about the consequences, prior to making decisions.

Strengthening Families : A program that focuses on the parent, youth, and family. This skill-building curriculum is designed for parents and youth to work independently and together.

Classes are formed during the day and early evening. Travel is required, as multiple counties are served.
