The Milwaukee Center for Independence (MCFI) is a nonprofit agency assisting individuals with special needs and other barriers to achievement to better live and work in our community. Affiliates include New Health Services, Transitional Living Services and the School for Early Development & Achievement. Together we are a community resource with more than 50 programs serving children through seniors.
Duties and Responsibilities :
This position involves the direct care of adults with mental health disabilities in adults in a group home setting. The Community Recovery Specialist helps provide a homelike environment enabling residents to learn and develop daily living skills as well as socialization and leisure skills. Every day you can expect to cook, clean the house, and do laundry, with or without the help of residents. You can also expect to pass medications, document in all log books, order medications from the pharmacy, audit medications, complete an activity with the residents, etc.
This position is a relief/ pool position.
- High School diploma or GED and a minimum of 1 year related human services experience or education.
- Must be able to bend, lift, stoop, pull and carry up to 50 pounds in order to participate in the performance or demonstration of household chores.
- Must be able to climb two flights of stairs.
