The Community Relations Coordinator develops and coordinates community relations and outreach functions for the college. This position works closely with all college departments, faculty and staff to identify, develop and implement community partnerships and outreach opportunities, and to promote and provide event coordination for the college’s events, programs and activities (i.e. Speaker Series, Twilight Performances, cultural programming). As a representative of the college at internal and external events, this individual is a goodwill ambassador to enhance the college’s image. This individual provides office management and assists in writing and editing public relations materials.

The work schedule is 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Flexibility is required to attend evening and weekend events at the college's campuses and within the Southern Maryland community.

Required Skills

Bachelor’s degree required

Must have demonstrated college-level education in the areas of public relations, journalism, communications, and/or English

Three years of public relations, event planning or relevant experience

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Photoshop and general office procedures

Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail
