Community Relations Manager

We have an excellent opportunity for a Community Relations Manager in the Greater Bay Area.

The Manager, under the supervision of the Senior Community Health Director and in collaboration with Greater Bay Area staff, is responsible for implementing volunteer recruitment, cultivation and activation, as well as marketing activities related to the 2020 Health Impact Goal and cause campaigns in the Greater Bay Area. This includes networking with community groups to develop and expand the volunteer base. The Manager also will be responsible for the execution of Greater Bay Area cause campaign projects, including but not limited to: Week of Caring, Wear Red Day, Start Walking Day, Research Reception.

Key Responsibilities include :
Volunteer Recruitment - Recruit and manage community and corporate volunteers to serve on various committees and to assist in marketing and outreach activities including speaking request and health fairs. Assists with intern recruitment and process for offices within the Greater Bay Area. Works on bi-monthly volunteer newsletter

Event Planning and Execution - Plan and execute appropriate activities and events to further the awareness of the AHA

Support theSenior Director of Community Health in achieving the Association’s mission-related goals through agreed upon strategies and best practices.

Required Skills

Required Experience

Qualified applicants will need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

1-3+ years related experience in alliance building, project management, non-profit volunteer management

Ability to manage multiple project and multiple priorities while meeting deadlines. Ability to adapt easily to changing priorities

Ability to work well in a team driven environment and interact with staff, volunteers and the public both individually and in-group settings

Ability to accept ownership of projects and function independently with minimal supervision

Intermediate or advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office package

Excellent writer with ability to draft business correspondence, edit newsletter and draft event scripts. Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Willing and able to travel within the assigned territory and work evenings/weekends as needed
