The Community Relations Manager will work to
advance the reputation and image of NorthWestern Energy and contribute to the
business and civic life in the communities served by NorthWestern Energy.

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

·
All
NorthWestern Energy employees are required to adhere to company safety

Ensure
all actions are consistent with NorthWestern Energy’s values, mission, Code of
Conduct and Ethics, and strategic business objectives

·
Establish
productive, positive and effective relationships with business, civic, and
local government leaders

·
Represent
NorthWestern Energy in various economic development opportunities including
Chambers of Commerce and Economic Development groups

·
Assist
in the establishment of position papers for consistent and appropriate company
messages

·
Identify
strengths and challenges in each community

·
Review
existing agreements, develop consistent strategies, identify opportunities, and
establish professional relationships in the community served

·
Establish
process to track large projects for targeted communities

·
Represent
NorthWestern Energy at public meetings and forms

·
Develop
and/or present informational presentations to governmental and civic groups.

·
Assess
development opportunities in relation to siting of
commercial and residential development

·
Work
with Co-op managers to negotiate and establish territorial agreements

·
Work
with local Contribution Committees for charitable giving

·
Support
local employee community/volunteer involvement

·
Develop
methodology to measure productivity and effectiveness of Community Relations actions and
outreach programs

·
Evaluate
and establish methods to grow the utility business

·
Develop
and implement a community relations plan

·
Represent
NWE community non-profit Boards

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

·
Must
be able to demonstrate a good safety record

·
Must
possess strong interpersonal communication skills

·
Degree
in Business, Economics, Marketing, Communications, Engineering or relevant
equivalent experience required

·
Strong
operational background preferred

·
Ability
to meet the public and develop positive
customer relations

·
Proficiency
in Microsoft Office products required

·
Demonstrable
leadership and change agency skills required

·
Must
be able to travel up to and in excess of 60% of the time and be available to
represent NWE at various evening and weekend functions

SELECTION PROCESS

When considering applicants for this
position, the selection process will take into consideration the needs of
NorthWestern, including such factors as reorganization requirements, diversity
opportunities, relocation requirements, employee development and job
succession. If any of the preceding
language conflicts with the applicable bargaining unit agreements, the
bargaining unit agreement will prevail.
