    The Community Relations Specialist assists in the creation and implementation of a strategic,multi-faceted communications and marketing plan designed to build and strengthen the organizations role and reputation as the local healthcare provider. This position is a member of the Wild Rose Community Memorial Hospital Community Relations department, which reports to the Executive Director of Support Services.


    A. Maintains a working knowledge of Wild Rose Community Memorial Hospital practices, services, relationships and impact of external factors on the organization.

    B. Write, edit, and approve story and press releases for publication. Maintain weekly presence in all local papers and manage media calendar.

    C. Answers incoming phone calls, responds to customer inquiries, act as frontline person of department, arrange speaking opportunities both internal and external, and other customer service tasks relative to Wild Rose Community Memorial Hospital and community outreach programs.

    D. Prepares weekly birth report for public disclosure to media. Maintains birthing newsletters mail list.

    E. Oversee outside advertising as it is related to phone directories, community outreach, web, radio, newspapers, etc.

    F. Plan, organize and execute special events for promotion of Wild Rose Community Memorial Hospital.

    G. Act on behalf of Wild Rose Community Memorial Hospital at community events and service clubs.

    H. Review and approve expenditures.

    I. Write copy for radio and work with graphic designer on ad concepts/designs for newspapers and other paper resources.

    J. Maintain a stock of courtesy/promotional items to coordinate with events and community endeavors.

    K. Assist Volunteer Coordinator.

    L. Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Support Services.


    A. Applicant must have excellent speaking, writing, and overall communication skills in addition to superior organizational skills.

    B. Applicant must be detail oriented with ability to prioritize projects, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and meet strict deadlines.

    C. Applicant must have excellent computer skills.

    D. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

    E. Individual must take an active role in the development of positive relationships with organizations (schools, businesses, service organizations) in the Wild Rose Community Memorial Hospital service area, along with internal relationships.

    F. Ability to perform interviews, write press releases, testimonial articles, and ad copy.

    G. Digital Photography skills preferred, with ability to download and manipulate photos using advanced software.

    H. Individual must demonstrate a highly professional attitude under the daily pressures and deadlines.


    1. Associate's degree required in Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Advertising, or related field.

    2. Bachelor's degree preferred in Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Advertising, or related field.

    3. Minimum of 2 years working experience preferred.
