Community Relations Internship Program

Purpose

Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center Community Relations Department seeks to continue its internship program to assist in expanding the reach and current capacities of its team members while fostering an environment of growth and learning for college students interested in developing skills and connecting with our internal and external community stakeholders.

Goals

The internship program expands the capacity and capabilities of the Community Relations Department by increasing and better utilizing staffing resources. The program also provides valuable work experience to college students.

Expected Work Duties for Intern

Interns will be expected to work with Community Relations team members in the Department of Marketing and Communications. Duties expected from the intern for the Community Relations team include:

Writing correspondence and other internal and external communication documents for sponsorships, community programs, and employee engagement events and activities
·
Attending and supporting Community Relations scheduled events, activities and programs. These include: o
Explorers Program held every Wednesday evening; o
Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) during the tax season; o
Employee-giving kick-offs and events during the months with employee-giving campaigns o
Lunch-and-Learn meetings o
Internal interactive Fairs on Employee Volunteer Opportunities

Attending the Community Relations weekly staff meeting
·
Attending Community Relations committee meetings
·
Updating the internal Community Relations web site with news and events
·
Creating and submitting articles, pictures and other content for CenterLink and other internal communications vehicles for news and events connected to our community. These include programs and activities, such as EITC and employee-giving campaigns sponsored or promoted through the Community Relations Department
·
Providing administrative assistance for the team members of Community Relations for items such as sponsorship check requests
·
Assisting with maintaining the internal database with e-mail addresses and other contact information for community relations stakeholders
Required:

Sophomore, Junior or Senior at a University or College

Preferred:

Majoring in communications, business, marketing, community organizing or related field.
