The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services' is seeking an accomplished manager to provide leadership, direction and management of the Community Support Services Division within the Division of Developmental Services. The Division of Developmental Services ensures availability of community support resources for people with intellectual/developmental disabilities to live in the most integrated setting of their choice. Each division ensures that person-centered services and supports are available in the community by fostering a culture that regards the individual's preferences at all times.

This position will lead the development and maintenance of the community support services division. This includes Family Services & Support, crisis services to include an established program - the START Program, Autism & Behavioral Support Services, Medical Supports and Regional Community Support Centers. This position will ensure the successful day to day operations of these programs and supervise professional and clinical staff, promoting a culture of person-centeredness and community. Will collaborate with others sections of DBHDS to ensure individuals with ID/DD living in the community have their needs met and when change is needed, be the agent of change.

Minimum Qualifications
Successful candidate should demonstrate considerable knowledge of: systems of care for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities; programs and interventions for individuals with developmental disabilities; person-centered practices, self-determination and empowerment concepts and supports; and, the support needs of families of adults and youth with these disabilities. Knowledge of the Home and Community Based Waiver program and the needs of individuals with autism spectrum disorder and their families is desired. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to: plan, manage and coordinate multiple diverse programs and projects; provide excellent communication skills (oral and written); establish and maintain effective relationships with diverse stakeholder groups (agencies, consumers, legislators, local providers, etc.); and, motivate, lead and supervise both professional and clinical staff. Considerable experience as a senior manager in a developmental disability service organization is required.

Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in psychology, social work, rehabilitation counseling, nursing, health administration or developmental disability-related field is preferred. Additional experience with policy development; strategic and operational planning; program and project management; budget and grant development and management; and contract development and management is preferred
